These photos better be taken before the ceremony itself begin, or at the house when the bridegroom are getting ready.

For The Groom/Bride

These photos are meant to be taken without their spouse-to-be

  • Full length
  • With the groom’s mother
  • With the groom’s father
  • With both parents
  • With important family members
  • With the best men/bridesmaids
  • With the groomsmen/maid of honors
  • With the ring bearers (no, no, not Frodo)
  • The groom finishing up
  • Getting ready candid
  • Details of groom’s attire

For the bride’s there are a few addition, such as:

  • With flower girl
  • Finishing touches on the attire

Ceremony

Most of the shots are standard ones; yet, you might want to tell them about some events that is cultural in nature or something unique you’ve thrown in as the part of your ceremony.

  • The Guests seating process
  • Bride’s Arrival
  • Procession
  • The Bride walking down the aisle
  • The groom standing at the altar, waiting in anticipation
  • Bride being given away
  • The family members at the altar
  • Kneeling before the altar (depends on the place and the procession itself)
  • Exchanging rings
  • Exchanging vows
  • Lighting the unity candles, if any
  • THE KISS!
  • Signing marriage license
  • With the officiate or priest
  • Recessional
  • In front of the church after ceremony
  • outside with the guests
  • Guests outside and inside the church. Some brides have elected to have shots done of all of the people attending the church ceremony.
  • Couple leaving in limo/coach/ other means of transportations (a bike is nice and unique, if you dare )

Formal Photo Shoot

This usually happens after the ceremony, and it’s better to be done at the reception hall before the receptions, Copy and paste the following into a document and edit it to suit your needs:

  • Bride Alone
  • Groom Alone
  • Bride & Groom together ; pick your favorite locations
  • Bride with the bridesmaids
  • Groom with the grooms men
  • Bride with grooms men
  • Groom with bridesmaids
  • Bride with each and every wedding attendants
  • Groom with each and every wedding attendants
  • Hands with the rings
  • With best man and maid of honors

Reception Photos

The list usually cover all the standard processions at a reception. But if you have some special events, you might want to inform the photographer about this . Making the list of your wedding reception processions would help them to capture the moments.

  • Talking with guests at reception - receiving line
  • First dance
  • Cutting the cake
  • Toasting and speeches
  • With special guests
  • Dances at the receptions
  • Wedding Cake before cutting
  • Food or desert tables
  • Musicians/singer/soloists/organists
  • Decorations; any centerpiece of your decorations
  • Candid shots of the guests at the receptions
  • Photo of the stationery, tables and centerpieces

Please keep in mind that providing list like this might be helpful to your photographer, yet, don’t bind their artistic tendencies.

You might want to includes their close friends and close relative. Make sure the photographer know, so he can coordinate it efficiently.
