Wedding March Songs Recommendations
Jun 28th, 2008 | By Ch3 | Category: Wedding MusicThe early wedding procession was coming from the ancient and medieval wedding processions. It’s all starts with the Athenians; some parts of the ceremony was an offering to Zeus and Hera (which isn’t the best example is marital faithfulness I might add) and improved and varied through the medieval times. At this point the processional was full of color and songs; complete with your very own singing minstrelsy. It is on this era the idea of bridesmaids and best men came to surface. The funny thing is, with all the march and procession, you would think the family is situated up front; the thing was, they did. It should be everybody except the bride’s father.
This classic traditional procession evolved into our modern day wedding march that takes place in most weddings. The bride and the groom arrive first on the spot, followed by the rest of the participants. And then, the procession branches out. The guests move to the periphery, while the participants are to remain near the centre. This procession is probably one of the most spectacular parts in the whole wedding events.
The Wedding March, normally always accompanied by two song, one is for the procession; Richard Wagner Lohengrin or Here Comes The Bride is a classic; while the other is for the recession. It’s common to use Wedding March from Mendelssohn’ Midsummer Night Dream for the latter part.
However it’s not necessary to use those two songs; some song can actually complement or act as a substitute. Here below are some of songs I recommend using (all linked to the midi music files, which you can play it directly from your browser, or download it for later usage).
