Groom Speech and Toast
For the groom, wedding is the threshold into a new life spent with your beloved, your speech is a best way to show the world how you love and appreciate the person next to you. To make and deliver the best groom speech, be prepare is the first and foremost thing I suggest to you.
A speech written in relaxed manner will become the best speech as you will have the needed amount of time to improve your speeches to its best shape. The quality of your speech will depend heavily on how confidence you are upon delivery.
First of all, find a writing pad and a pencil (it could be erased as oppose to pen, but it’s your choice really) and find your save heaven, away from the hubbub of your wedding arrangements. Ask for the guest list and go through. Starts by welcoming and thanking the guest for attending your wedding; don’t speak much and keep it plain and simple.
Then, express your gratitude to the bride’s father (who, aside from being your new in-law, is also the first speaker right before you). After that do the same with your parents and the bride’s for everything they did; every scrapes, broken bike, basically for everything they’ve been through to raise you and make you who you are. And then, thanks all the wedding committee-basically, it involved everyone who’s participating in the ceremony and reception, with exception of the guests. Just remember not to make your speech a long and winding list of thank-yous; spice things a bit with jokes or stories about those close to you.
And then, turn your focus to the bride; say something good about her, about how special she is and what makes you know that she is the one. Why do you think you’re blessed with her; do these things in your way, your words. Express your passion to the fullest without making it cheesy. And while you are at it, don’t forget to express your gratitude and praise the maid of honor, for a long time (perhaps, even longer than you) she had been on the bride’s side, sharing all the laughter and the tears; and most of all, recognize her for her works and labor to make your wedding run smooth.
Introduce your groom’s men, as he will be the next speaker in line. Introduce him to the guests; share some memorable stuffs you shared with him; some jokes or embarrassing stories is okay, just don’t overdid it and hurt his feelings. And then tell the world how good he is and why he has the honor to become your groom’s men.
Upon delivery, remember to keep smiling, regardless how nervous you are. Speak clear and don’t mumble, spice it up with stories and quotations (it certainly helps when you stuck). Don’t step on any proverbial land mines, you can ask someone to evaluate your speech just to see whether you step on one or is it clear and smooth-sailing up ahead.
If you are still unsure and stuck with your speech, having a guide book about speeches might help; it might sounds vain, but it is your wedding and you are the groom, so why not going all out and pull out the big guns? Some of the big guns I recommend is Wedding speech For Groom.
It is one of the most comprehensive guides about how to deliver a great wedding speech. This book contains not only all the pointers and what-not about groom speech, but also include example where you could read to get inspiration. This book also helps you through the delivery; which for some people might be a little bit overwhelming, and telling you all the speech etiquettes you need to know.
