R&B Wedding Songs: an alternative
Jun 27th, 2008 | By Ch3 | Category: Wedding MusicSongs always play a major part of mood-make in each and every event, from birthday to wedding. Some prefers classical stuffs, some like it hard core metal (unbelievable it might be, but I know who does). Some people just like R&B songs.
R&B (Rhythm and Blues) is a music genre evolved from 1940s which put emphasis on song compared with the improvisation. It can include any kind of music genre, from jazz, rock, soul, funk or any other type of folk music. This type of music is a great mix and match of vocals, styles, beats, sounds, and attitudes.
These ingredients makes R&B fits for all occasions, including a wedding. It’s an excellent choice for a wedding with smaller number of guests (as opposed to classical), especially if you wish for an intimate and to create a casual feelings between your guests and you.
For those who wish to use some R&B music in your wedding, may it receptions or ceremonies, here is a list of song I recommend to use:
1. “I Believe in You and Me” by Whitney Houston
2. “I Swear” by All-4-One
3. “Three Times a Lady” by The Commodores
4. “I Believe I Can Fly” by R. Kelly
5. “On Bended Knees” by Boyz II Men
6. “I’ll Make Love To You” by Boyz II Men
7. “I’ll Be There” by Jackson 5
8. “Truly” by Lionel Richie
9. “Endless Love” by Diana Ross & Lionel Richie
10. “Everytime I Close My Eyes” by Babyface
11. “No Ordinary Love” by Sade
12. “Back At One” by Brian McKnight
13. “I’ll Always Love You” by Taylor Dane
14. You Really Got a Hold on Me” by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles
15. “My Boo” by Usher and Alicia Keys
16. “If I Ain’t got You” by Alicia Keys
17. “Love of My Life” by Brian McKnight
For those whose mother language is not English, feel free to use any local R&B songs, as long as it fit to the occasion (It will be very unbecoming to use Rihanna’s “Unfaithful” for a wedding, won’t it?) and something that your guest wouldn’t have to guess the meaning of it, both language wise and song wise.
Adding something with historical value for both of you and your-spouse-to-be is also a nice touch, especially for the dance section.
PS: My very own personal favorite would be “Everything” sung by Japanese R&B artist, MISIA. Sadly, neither me nor did my family talk Japanese.
